Project Management

Project management in construction encompasses the systematic management, control and coordination of all project processes from project start to completion. The tasks extend across all project phases – from preparation through planning and execution to acceptance and handover. Project management ensures the implementation of project objectives in the dimensions of time (schedules), cost (budget) and quality (scope of services) and ensures the achievement of these objectives through continuous control and adjustment.

Core tasks include establishing the project organization, creating project structures and defining decision-making authorities. Project management also assumes commercial and technical direction of the project, prepares decisions, documents processes and ensures transparent communication between all parties involved – client, architects, engineers, contractors and authorities. Regular status reports, construction meetings and the updating of time and cost schedules are integral components of this function.

Project management contributes significantly to identifying risks early and initiating measures to minimize them. It ensures that deviations from the plan are detected, analyzed and corrected through adjustment measures. An efficient project management structure is crucial for cost-effectiveness and the successful completion of complex construction projects.
